The external spring can also be tuned, however, it must remain stronger than the inner spring.
Tube assembly comes with the internal and external springs, but you can also use your favorite magazine tube spring. The fixed tube in some SuperNovas can be 0.3-0.5mm too long, so it might have to be trimmed slightly.
Benelli Supernova and Beretta 1301 have the same thread, so these tubes can be used on either shotgun. Without shells (telescoping part not extended). Length is stated as the the total length the magazine tube, not only the extension. The inner tube will not start telescoping until more than 8-10 shells are loaded.
This will give the competitor high maximum shell capacity, but until the tube is fully loaded, the short shotgun will be much easier to maneuver during shooting (and storing).
